The origin of the current spa Cestona can find two springs which waters called "guesalagas" (salt water), declared of public interest in the late eighteenth century were collected. The iconic resort opened soon after, in 1804, and the Grand Hotel in 1893. After the floods of 1983, the center underwent an extensive renovation, equipping it with the best and most modern facilities. Thermal baths offer prescription and medical supervision, "hidrogim" (jets of water and air), hand massage and whirlpool. Among its facilities, guests will also find hot pools, "multijets" bed pools, various types of showers, saunas, foot baths and a gym. With 127 rooms (singles, doubles and suites) spread over the three floors of the building with wide corridors and halls, completing a capacity of 232 fully renovated spaces. The Spa cuisine without forgetting the Basque culinary tradition, proposes a healthy diet based on the simplicity of natural products and homemade hospitality collecting the first bathing establishments of the Basque Country. Cestona waters are internationally recognized for their medicinal mineral properties. Are those of the Manantial de San Ignacio, sulfated sodium chlorinated waters, strong mineralization, which are particularly suitable for the treatment of liver and biliary diseases. The Fountainhead of Our Lady of the Nativity, are hypothermic chlorinated waters of great interest as sulfated water diuretic for the treatment of various disorders of the renal tract.
